He is Risen

Click to download sheet music
I only have four weeks with my Primary kids before Easter! (Stake and General Conference are both coming up.) I'm hoping to teach "He is Risen" for our Easter song. We love "Gethsemane" but we are ready for a new Easter song. I love the arrangement of "He is Risen" done by Melanie Hoffman at HoffmanHouse.com, but I thought the accompaniment was a little too upbeat for church, so I made my own arrangement of the hymn. I kept a rhythmic feel, but softened it with arpeggios. It's an abbreviated version, only the first and third verses, with the last two lines the same.

Click on the link to the right to download the sheet music. Lyrics are below. To see the ASL version follow this link. I will use their way of signing "risen." The other key words I will sign are linked below to videos showing how to sign them.

He is risen! He is risen! (see the lds.org link above for my preferred way of signing 'risen')
Tell it out with joyful voice.
He has burst His three days' prison; (burst, I used same as free)
Let the whole wide earth rejoice.
Death is conquered; man is free.
Christ has won the victory. (victory is same as rejoice)

He is risen! He is risen!
He hath opened heaven's gate.
We are free from sin's dark prison,
Risen to a holier state.
Death is conquered; man is free.
Christ has won the victory.

Visuals: I'll be using pictures from an old calendar with illustrations by Simon Dewey, see his painting above. Also, pictures from old Ensign issues and the gospel art kit come in handy, because they have great artwork and it's already printed!
