Easter Movie

Have you seen the "Life of Jesus Christ Bible Videos" on lds.org? They are amazing. They have recently added videos about the last days of Christ's life just in time for Easter. I wanted to share them with my Primary children so I combined and condensed several into an Easter Movie covering the Atonement, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. And, of course I added music. Originally I thought I'd only use songs that the kids knew and could sing along with. It starts with "Gethsemane" and then I chose "I Stand All Amazed" and then "Jesus, Once of Humble Birth." I don't know how well they know the two hymns, but they fit the feel of the video the best.

The section on the Crucifixion is pretty serious. I took out a lot of footage I thought would be too much for children, still, use your best judgement in sharing it. It lasts 10 minutes, kind of long, so for Junior Primary I'll definitely break it up and then show as much as they are able to handle. For Senior Primary I think I'll show it straight through and I'll definitely invite them all to sing along. They've sung the songs in Sacrament Meeting their whole (albeit short) lives so they might be able to sing along.

When I introduce this to the Primary I'll invite them to pay attention to two things. 1.Their feelings, so they can tell me if they felt the Spirit and 2.Their favorite part. I'm looking forward to the short discussion afterward. I'm sure the Spirit will guide as they share their thoughts and feelings. Questions I plan on asking are: "Why did Jesus do this?" "Who did He do this for?" "Do you think He loves you?" "How do you know?" If they come away from this Singing Time having felt the Spirit and knowing Jesus loves them, it will be a success!

Happy Easter!

  4. Hi Cami. This video is beautiful. I'm trying to use zamzar but your file is 103mb and the max is 100. Any way you could make it a tad shorter and repost it?

    1. Cami, I have been searching for the Gethsemane version that you used in the video with the child singing. Where can I purchase it?
