This Sunday I'm going to bring my "Service Box" to church and use it to teach/review the third verse of "As a Child of God."
In my own home I'll happily serve
I'll strengthen my family by my good works.
We'll pass the box from person to person as we sing, then when the piano stops, we'll stop singing and the person with the box gets to open it, choose an item and tell us how they would use it to serve their family.
I plan on using lots of positive encouragement, helping them think of the things they do around the house and maybe give them some new ideas. Teachers are also great at helping the little ones think of things they can do. I plan on challenging the older kids to think about how they can actually strengthen their family using these things, like helping without being asked or without complaining so there is a good feeling in their home.
It's important to choose a box that even the little ones can manage to lift and move and open. A lunchbox would be fun!
